Olympia

Olympia is Melissa's cat. She got her name from the event that was occurring on the day she was born. She was born on July 17th of 1996, opening day of the Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta Georgia. These Olympics were the greatest games ever and the whole family was involved. Melissa's mom was a Dancer in the opening and closing ceremonies, her Dad was a Security Guard for the duration of the game, and she attended many of the events. The Paralympics started immediately after the regular olympics and Melissa, her brother Zachary, and her mom, were all part of that opening ceremony.

Olympia came to live with us about seven weeks after she was born and was a happy cat for 14 years. Sadly she died in her sleep on February 25th of 2010, just a few weeks before the 2010 Winter Olympics opening ceromonies. She is missed by everyone in the house.
