David lived in Brunswick ME. He is believed to have brought his family to ME from Ireland on the ship "Maccullum" in 1718. The family held up in their fortified house as the settlement was destroyed by Indians in the Fourth Indian War (Lovewells War) in 1722. In 1727 he bought 300 acres of land in Middle Bay ME and built a block house for protection against the Indians. His sons Robert and John continued to live in it after their dad died.
