His will is dated 5 Feb. (He d. 6 Feb.) 1674/5 and names wife Meribah, daughter of Wm. Wardwell, and sons Joseph and Nathan executors. The inventory included his sawmill and cornmill.
The story goes that Francis "the elder" had wandered off and was not heard of until after the Second Francis was born, so the second Francis
was called Francis, Jr. or Francis "the younger".

Gr. j. 1673, 1674. Lot-layer 1669-70. Will 5 B eb. (d. 6 Feb.) 1674-5, names w. Meribah, dau. of Wm. Wardwell and sons Jos. and Nathan execs. Inv. incl. saw and cornmill. In 1710 on ptn. of Jona and David that their mo. Mrs. Meribah was liable to be chargeable to them beyond their proper., her ch. and gr. ch. were ordered to supp. her, altho only son s and sons-in-law named specif. in the order.

In 1710 on petition of Jonathan and David that their mother Mrs. Meribah Littlefield was liable to be chargeable to them beyond their proportion, her children and grandchildren were ordered to support her although only sons and sons-in-law named specifically in the order. (Her date of death has been given as 12 December 1679, but this is obviously in error.)
